Special Education Programs at Vista High School
Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are the result of an educational assessment that determines that a child has significant learning challenges. Such a plan is made for children who are having difficulty learning in school, whether due to learning disabilities, developmental disabilities or emotional and behavior problems. Learning and behavioral goals and objectives with specific measurable outcomes are identified. All our students in the Special Ed Program have an IEP. We currently offer three distinctive programs to serve our students with special needs; RSP, SDC and ATP.

Resource Specialists Program (RSP)
This program offers Specialized Academic Instruction for students who need additional instruction and intervention to make progress in the general education curriculum. Students may receive instruction in the Resource room or in the general education classroom, depending upon student needs and the recommendation of the IEP team.

Adult Transition Program (ATP)
The Adult Transition Program at Vista High School is designed for students with special needs, ages 18-22, who have completed their high school requirements but need additional support transitioning to adulthood. The program focuses on building essential life skills, vocational training, independent living skills, and community-based instruction to help students achieve greater independence. Through individualized learning plans, students gain practical experience and prepare for future employment, education, or supported living opportunities.
