Lynwood Unified on February 21 hosted its annual INSPIRE College & Career Fair, giving seniors from Lynwood, Firebaugh and Vista high schools the opportunity to explore various career paths by connecting with professionals, college advisors, instructors and local employers.
The fair, held at Firebaugh High School, provided valuable networking opportunities and career insights beyond the traditional four-year university route. Partners such as Cerritos College, Long Beach City College, Wesley Health, St. Francis Medical Center and Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts introduced students to in-demand career pathways.
“I found out about an internship in childcare that could help me in my public health aspirations,” Firebaugh High School Senior Codi Thompson said. “I’m really happy to have learned about this opportunity.”
Students also gained essential job search skills, including resume building and LinkedIn best practices, and had the opportunity to take professional headshots, making for a hands-on learning experience.
Lynwood Unified is committed to preparing students early for their career journeys, equipping them with the tools they need to find their passion and succeed. The college and career fair provides students with firsthand knowledge of the skills and requirements needed to thrive in college and today’s job market.
