Lynwood Unified high school students have the opportunity to explore hands-on learning in fields like culinary arts, aviation, esports and more during after-school courses offered through the California Advancing Pathways for Students (CalAPS) program, which has opened registration for the Spring 2025 semester.
CalAPS is a Golden Bell Award-winning career technical education (CTE) program serving Lynwood Unified and Bellflower and Paramount school districts students. The program prepares students in a range of specialties such as stage production, fashion design, health occupations, EMT prep, law enforcement, forensic science, entrepreneurship, auto tech, education, graphic design, farming and more, inspiring future career paths and skill development.
Since 2016, CalAPS has equipped Lynwood, Firebaugh and Vista high school students with industry-specific knowledge that builds a strong foundation for future opportunities, aligning with state college and career readiness standards. Lynwood Unified students have notably excelled in SkillsUSA competitions, achieving first-place national wins and demonstrating skills they developed as part of the CTE program.
