Vista High School is proud to offer two new free programs in partnership with Lynwood Community Adult School (LCAS) and Compton Community College (CCC).
 
The first program is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program is a training course offered by LCAS and is designed to prepare individuals to become essential members of the healthcare team, providing basic care to patients under the supervision of licensed nurses. The program typically includes a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience, covering topics such as patient hygiene, vital signs monitoring, basic medical procedures, and effective communication with patients and healthcare staff. Successful completion of a CNA program equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pass a state certification exam, enabling them to work in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, and home health agencies.
 
The second program is a dual enrollment course in offered at Vista through CCC. The Child Development course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth of children from infancy through adolescence. This course explores key theories and principles of child development, examining the stages of development and the various factors that influence a child's growth, such as family, culture, and environment. Students will gain insights into effective strategies for supporting and nurturing children's development. The course also emphasizes the importance of creating safe, stimulating, and supportive environments that promote healthy development and learning. This course sets students on pathway for careers in education, childcare, social services, and related fields.
